interview with the building owner(s)
APLH : Who lives now in this house?
Me Accad: I live alone here and take care of this house which has been with my family for around 200 years now. My children visit me from time to time.
APLH: Are you receiving any help in repairing your house?
Me Accad: Some volunteers do pass by and help in whichever way they can. I’m grateful to them. Today, a few brave men came and painted over the cracks of my living room, but as you can see, those are far from professional repairs but just enough to get me going through the winter season with my limited resources...
APLH: Would you consider selling this house if the opportunity arises?
Me Accad: Such prospect horrifies me. Few are those who understand the historical and cultural value of a traditional building and I hope their number grows with time. I understand that people think economically when living in a generic apartments, but outside that, there exist no aesthetical qualities in modern buildings. No soul to be found there. Even in its current state, I'm happier living here than in a random modern apartment.
